What US Universities Look For

While a majority of US colleges admit over half their applicants, a select few seek criteria beyond GPAs and standardized test scores.  These universities are interested in the contribution a student will bring to their campus. They also look for a student’s trajectory over the years, curiosity and commitment. They pay attention to how far a student has come based on the means they have been provided through their upbringing.  Lastly, some universities seek diversity which translates to also admitting students based on quotes to provide a certain representation of various races, ethnicities and nations.  Universities will compare an applicant to others from the same country, and especially if there are others from his school, in making their decision.
